Everyone’s heard of the Large Hadron Collider, but unless you’re a geek you probably really aren’t sure why it’s such a big deal.

Here, in a nutshell, is the answer… also unfortunately in flash, you’ll have to follow the link.  I don’t feel bad about this one.  If you haven’t visited the TED site before, set an alarm for 45 minutes or so to remind you that you have other things to do today…
