Large Numbers Again   Leave a comment

A friend and I were joshing about how some people think that N^1,000,000 is larger than N^N for large values of N. Looong story about the state of the job market in programming… summarized as “It’s hard to find good help these days.”

There’s a few jokes in there, but only if you’re the right kind of nerd. Anyway, this discussion distracted me from my homework for the week long enough to Google and find this interesting essay on large numbers, how the human math co-processor works, and how to out-nerd a nerd in a rather simple nerd contest. This of course led me to the author’s blog, and reading just a few posts made me add him to my regular reading list. He calls Reiser the Nerderer! That is hilarious!
