Cool Software – OTR

Off the Record Messaging.  A plugin for Gaim Instant Messenger or Trillian that supports a nice set of security-related functionality.  A geek-level description of the protocol is here, describing the AKE and the encryption algorithms in the back-end.

Installing is easy on Fedora Core (via a number of repositories) or Mandriva.
